Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) and Chris Watson (born in Paris). They was moved to Oxfordshire at the age of five years old and attended at the Dragon School. When she was six years old, Emma was aware that she wanted to be an actor and for several years, she studied at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school in which she was taught singing dancing and acting. In a school play and an Stagecoach production, Emma was the lead at the age 10 and performed. Casting began in 1999 to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was spotted by Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. After eight consecutive auditions, producer David Heyman told Emma and co-applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they had been cast for the roles of the three lead characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's debut film coincided with the release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). The film is 2001's top grossing film, breaking records on opening day as well as the first weekend. The film was praised by critics and the performances of the three leading actors of the young generation. The Daily Telegraph in Britain, which is widely distributed and widely read, praised her performance as admirable. Later Emma was shortlisted for five prizes for her work in the film, winning her the Young Artist Award for Leading Actress Young in an Feature Film.
